Linn County schedules Dec. 8 public hearing on fringe-area agreement with Centerpoint

Linn County commissioners on Dec. 1 voted to set a public hearing for Dec. 8, 2025, at 10 a.m. to solicit public input on a proposed 20AE fringe area agreement with the city of Centerpoint.
Stephanie Lentz, planning and development, said the resolution before the board only sets the hearing date and does not include new mapping. "There's no new mapping that comes along with this," she said, adding the agreement is intended to clarify which entity has review and approval authority for development in the two-mile area outside Centerpoint.
The presiding official moved to adopt the resolution setting the hearing date; an unnamed board member seconded and the motion carried by voice vote. The hearing will be an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to comment on the scope and terms of the fringe-area agreement before any final action by the board.
County staff said the item on Dec. 8 will focus on the agreement that determines review and approval authority between Linn County and Centerpoint; staff did not present new parcel maps at the Dec. 1 meeting. Next steps are the public hearing on Dec. 8 and later deliberation by the commission after public input.
