Committee members asked about the original duties and whether similar language exists for other state medical schools; witnesses said the requirement was specific to that law and that other medical schools engage with physicians informally. The sponsor characterized the repeal as a cleanup of archaic statutory language and not a prohibition on voluntary advisory relationships.
A motion for a favorable report was made and seconded; the committee approved the repeal by voice vote.
