Linn County OKs FY2026 Legacy and Community Attraction grant allocations

The Linn County Board of Supervisors approved funding allocations for the fiscal year 2026 Linn County Legacy and Community Attraction Grant at its Nov. 26 meeting, a staff member told the board.

Jesse Black of the Board of Supervisors office said the recommended awards were unchanged from an earlier discussion and that “if you guys are good to go with a column in yellow there at the end, then I will let all of the applicants know and then we'll get that money out to them.” That statement preceded a motion by the chair to approve the allocations, which was seconded and approved by voice vote.

Board members who spoke in favor emphasized stewardship of taxpayer dollars and noted this vote does not fund construction or long-term projects but simply releases grant awards as recommended. One supervisor said the action is an informational first step and clarified for the public that the board was not voting to build new facilities today, but rather approving distribution of grant awards.

The board did not provide a roll-call vote or specific tally in the record; the approval was recorded by voice vote as “aye.” The transcript shows the staff recommendation was unchanged from prior consideration earlier in the week.

The board moved on after the vote to a separate agenda item on master planning for a proposed elections facility.
