Two firms presented superintendent-search services. Innovis/NNV (disability-led) emphasized lived-experience recruitment and accessibility accommodations; SSA Consultants outlined a four-phase search methodology with local Louisiana experience and post-hire transition support.
The board heard two competing superintendent-search proposals.
Melissa Yingst and Davin Searls, representing a disability-led firm (presented as Innovis/NNV), said accessibility and lived experience are central to their search strategy. "We truly understand what this... is necessary about this search," Yingst said, adding that the firm focuses on disability-specific recruitment, community engagement, and a five-phase process including extensive community surveys and a 90-day transition package for the selected leader.
Rudy Gomez of Baton Rouge–based SSA Consultants described a four-phase search focusing on preparation, broad outreach, candidate screening and interviews, and transition support. SSA emphasized local knowledge of Louisiana education systems, search-committee training (confidentiality and anti-bias), and extended post-hire support for new leaders.
Board members asked questions about approach, community engagement and candidate pools. Members indicated appreciation for both approaches and moved to table related agenda items until the firms’ materials and in-person follow-ups could be considered in committee or at the March meeting.
