Assembly approves Pearl Creek handover funding, water‑meter upgrades and several capital items in unanimous votes

The assembly adopted an ordinance appropriating $122,000 from the general fund to cover utilities and digital services for Pearl Creek Elementary after the school district transfers the building to the borough on Dec. 1 — $82,000 for utilities and $40,000 for security cameras and core IT hardware and licensing.
Separately, the assembly approved a $1,000,000 reappropriation within the capital projects fund to upgrade seasonal water‑meter connections at borough parks so installations meet cross‑contamination prevention requirements. Staff said the work will relocate most meters above ground inside locked cages with backflow devices and will close or consolidate unused connections.
The assembly also approved an additional $35,528 local match for the Chena Lakes bike and pedestrian project to cover community-driven design refinements and drainage work, and it accepted an additional $1,304,703 in federal transit grant funds with a $43,750 local match for operating and capital assistance.
On a separate licensing item, the assembly moved and carried a motion of “no protests” on alcohol license 2424 (Sophie Station Hotel restaurant endorsement). All roll-call votes for these items were recorded as 9–0 in the transcript.
