Bristol Bay Borough swears in two assembly members; Russell Phelps elected president

Michael Peters and Rob Babiak Jr. were sworn in as assembly members at the Bristol Bay Borough meeting on Monday, after which the assembly reorganized its leadership.
Chris administered the oath to both new members, which included a pledge to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States” and to faithfully discharge borough duties. The two were then asked to take their seats on the dais.
The assembly moved to elect a president as its first order of business. Following a nomination for Russell Phelps, members voted by voice and the motion carried; Phelps was declared president. The assembly then opened nominations for deputy presiding officer and approved Jenny Shreyoff by voice vote.
Clerk roll call earlier in the meeting recorded Russell Phelps, Pete Caruso, Shelby Booth, Lisa Anderson, Jenny Shreyoff and Mayor Dave Watts as present; Manager James Wilson was recorded as excused. A quorum was present for the reorganization and votes.
The meeting did not adopt ordinances or budget measures during this session; the assembly proceeded to an executive session after the leadership elections.
