Manager James Wilson told the assembly on Nov. 3 that the borough is behind on the 2024 audit by about three weeks because of staff turnover but is aiming to meet a target sign-release by Jan. 31 to meet HRSA-related requirements. “We slipped 3 weeks in there,” Wilson said, noting uncertainty because some federal reviewers (HRSA) have frozen activity.
Wilson said staff are spending significant time preparing the FY27 budget and reviewing equipment and facilities to plan five-year replacement needs. He reported the port project is winding down but that the borough may assist later in the year with emergency barge operations to preposition materials for flooded villages. He also said the solid-waste fencing and new facility construction are on schedule and on budget despite one administrative change order.
Assembly members asked for updates on funds moved into 2025 balances and raised questions about landfill classification and local capacity to perform red-tag certifications for refrigerators and freezers; staff agreed to follow up and return with more details.
