Consultant: Bristol Bay crash review finds 56 events in 11 years, recommends lighting and design changes

Sarah Shocker of Michael Baker International told the Bristol Bay Borough Assembly on Oct. 6 that a review of 11 years of crash records found 56 crash events and highlighted recurring patterns the borough should address.
"Even in the very few crashes that exist, 56 of them through 11 years," Shocker said, and she added that the borough’s serious crashes — including three fatal crash events — were concentrated on the Alaska Peninsula Highway. "One hundred percent of your serious crashes ... are happening on the Alaska Peninsula Highway," she said.
