Councilors discussed the ordinance’s limited scope. A councilor noted that banning legal fireworks except on July 4 will not affect illegal fireworks, which remain prohibited year-round. Another councilor observed the potential economic impact on nonprofits that raise funds through fireworks sales and suggested monitoring data for future adjustments.
Council approved first and second reading by title and then adopted the ordinance by roll call vote; all present councilors voted 'Aye.'
