La Verne Library Board reappoints chair, appoints vice chair in voice votes

The La Verne Library Board reappointed "Chairman Glenn" and approved the appointment of Dr. Burgess as vice chairman during its Jan. 12, 2026 meeting, both by voice vote.
The meeting opened at 5:14 p.m. with a quorum present and the board identified 2026 board appointments as the first order of business. An unidentified board member moved "I make a motion to reappoint chairman Glenn," and the motion received a second and passed after members responded "Aye." The meeting transcript does not record the names of the member who seconded the motion or a roll-call tally; the vote was decided by voice vote.
Later the presiding officer opened nominations for vice chair and moved to appoint Dr. Burgess. The board proceeded with the appointment even though the transcript records that Dr. Burgess was not present; another member seconded that motion and the appointment was approved by voice vote. The presiding officer noted there had been no indication Dr. Burgess would decline the nomination.
The board also moved to approve the minutes from the Sept. 8, 2025 regular meeting and noted the Nov. 10, 2025 meeting was canceled; that motion likewise passed on a voice vote.
The meeting then turned to staff reports on hours and programming. The agenda did not record roll-call vote counts or named movers/seconders for the motions.
