Commissioners approve community-event request, authorize EMS flooring bids and accept surveyor work orders

Event permit: Debra McGriff introduced Grace White (her designated replacement for Touch A Truck coordination) and requested permission to use the courthouse lawn on April 11 with a planned street closure and a handicap-accessible portable restroom. A commissioner moved, seconded and the board approved the request by voice vote.
EMS flooring: Gary Moore, the county EMS director, described the Winchester EMS building’s worn carpet and requested permission to obtain bids for durable, easy-to-clean flooring. Commissioners encouraged Moore to pursue laminate or similar surface and coordinate funding through county staff.
Surveyor work orders: Ed Thornburg, county surveyor, presented three utility agreements (including 185 feet of fiber and two utility poles) and asked the board to accept work orders 26-1, 26-2 and 26-3; the commissioners moved and approved the surveyor’s recommendation.
Next steps: event organizers will coordinate street-closing details with the mayor and public works; EMS director will solicit flooring bids and return cost/funding details to commissioners; the surveyor will proceed with the approved utility agreements.
