Joel Dixon, currently the assistant superintendent of human resources in Shelby County Schools, introduced himself to the Chelsea City Council and said he is running for Shelby County Superintendent of Schools.
Dixon summarized his experience in the central office, prior principal and assistant-principal roles, and a decade as an English teacher. He invited council members and residents to ask questions and outlined a student outreach program organized by Dale Alexander called "The Talk About Money," which will visit Chelsea High School and other county schools beginning Jan. 7.
Dixon said the county legislative delegation is sponsoring a book purchase for each graduating senior this year and encouraged council members to connect with him for additional conversation about partnerships between the schools and the city.
