At the Jan. 15 Community Preservation Committee meeting the chair presented draft warrant language and revenue projections for fiscal 2027 and raised the question of the administrative allocation rate.
The committee reviewed a projection of roughly $287,000 in CPA receipts and noted the existing administrative allocation at 3%. Members argued for moving the rate to 5% to preserve flexibility and ensure administrative capacity, pointing out that unspent funds return to the CPC balance at year’s end and that the additional 2 percentage points would keep funds available for unanticipated needs. The chair said the numbers provided were based on last year’s receipts and asked Mike Ellis to provide updated figures so the committee could decide at its next meeting and, if agreed, put the warrant language on the Town Meeting warrant.
No formal vote was taken on Jan. 15; the committee agreed to place the item on the next month’s agenda and to ask staff to update the projections. The chair noted that the warrant opens in March, so the committee intends to finalize language in February to meet Town Meeting deadlines.
