Ellettsville area ' The Richland Township and Town of Ellettsville reorganization committee met Jan. 13 to finalize subcommittee responsibilities and membership, and to approve a contract for a public-facing reorganization website.
Town attorney Darla Brown said the committee needs a comprehensive list of subcommittee members with contact information and recommended involving township trustees and town supervisors in outreach to explain governmental roles. Members agreed to leave meeting frequency to individual subcommittees.
Committee member Mike Korman asked how Bloomington's 2017 annexation efforts might affect the reorganization process if the Bloomington case is decided in the Indiana Supreme Court. An unidentified speaker (Ellis) recommended continuing planning for the entire township regardless of that outcome.
The committee approved a $1,500 website contract that the town of Ellettsville will pay using the local income-tax economic-development fund. The site will provide a single hub with links to minutes, video content and information about similar past reorganizations used as models.
The reorganization committee set its next meeting for Jan. 21.
