Summary
At its Jan. 15 meeting the Humboldt County Association of Governments re-elected Chair Johnson, chose Mayor Bridal as vice chair, appointed Council member Jorgensen to the executive committee and selected Kimberly White as the CALCOG delegate; all motions passed with no recorded opposition.
The Humboldt County Association of Governments on Jan. 15 re-elected its presiding officer and filled three other leadership roles for 2026.
Supervisor Madrone nominated the incumbents and newly interested members, and the board approved without opposition to keep Chair Johnson as board chair and to elect Mayor Bridal of Fortuna as vice chair. Council member Jorgensen was elected as the third executive committee member. The board also selected Kimberly White as HCOG’s California Association of Councils of Governments (CALCOG) delegate; staff had noted the CALCOG role typically requires two to three in-person meetings a year and that agencies usually budget for travel expenses.
The votes were taken by voice; each motion received a second and no board member recorded opposition. Staff said the executive committee member and the CALCOG delegate may be the same person, and that the executive committee acts only when it is necessary to transact business between full board meetings.
The reorganization follows HCOG’s annual practice under its bylaws for filling the chair, vice chair, the executive committee member and the CALCOG delegate. The board did not record individual roll-call tallies in the meeting transcript.
