Bedford board adopts updated medication-administration and wellness policies

At the Nov. 10 meeting the Bedford School Board completed second readings and approved two district policies.
On the medication-administration policy (JLCD), trustees accepted edits that add nasal administration devices to the permitted list and a specific reference to a nasal spray for glucagon. A trustee asked that the new language be set in italics or marked with an asterisk so the district will not inadvertently remove it in future edits. A motion to accept JLCD was made, seconded, and the chair announced the vote tally as "It's 5," indicating approval by the full board present.
Trustees also approved the wellness policy (JLCF). Board members said the most recent changes were primarily formatting and minor wording (punctuation and roles/designee language) compared with the prior 2022 version; the board discussed whether to wait until an updated wellness website is live but proceeded with approval.
During first reads the superintendent noted additional NHSBA policy updates prompted by recent legislation are pending and will be brought to the board at a future meeting. Board members did not amend either policy further at Nov. 10 and no legal citations beyond district policy references were raised during the discussion.
The board’s adopted motions were recorded in the meeting minutes; implementation of the medication policy will be incorporated into administrative procedures and the board directed staff to preserve the newly added wording during future edits.
