Pittsford enrollment projections show relatively flat districtwide numbers but potential local growth tied to new housing

District technology director Matt Krakowski presented enrollment projections prepared with the data team, telling the board that overall enrollment will remain relatively flat but that specific catchment areas could see growth tied to local housing development.
Krakowski reported roughly 6,115 students in the service area, of whom about 552 attend private schools and about 5,563 attend Pittsford schools. He said one-year and five-year projection accuracy has been high (about 99% for one-year and 98–99% for five-year projections) and that the data team uses BEDS data, census and county birth rates, private school enrollment trends and local housing permit information. He called out four neighborhoods with development potential and estimated roughly 260 potential new families across those subdivisions, noting those additions would be concentrated at schools that feed Barker Road Middle School and Pittsford Mendon High School.
Krakowski and board members discussed how new housing will affect individual schools (Mendon Center, Thornhill Road, Jefferson Road areas) and whether boundary adjustments or targeted attendance-line changes should be considered. The board asked for follow-up data packets for deeper review and the administration confirmed the detailed school-level tables are in the board packet and can be shared as requested.
