Beaufort County schedules Jan. 29 Veterans Affairs symposium for health-care and social-work professionals

Beaufort County Veterans Affairs will host a symposium for health-care professionals and social workers on Thursday, Jan. 29, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Palmetto Electric meeting room, 1 Cooperative Way, Hardeeville.
Caroline Furman, director of Beaufort County Veterans Affairs, told the county program the symposium is intended to clarify which programs and services are covered by Veterans Affairs so that caregivers and social-service providers can accurately guide veteran clients and their families.
The event will include brief presentations from the South Carolina Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Benefits Association, the Council on Aging and other providers, followed by a panel discussion and a question-and-answer session. The program encouraged interested professionals to register via the QR code on the event flyer or contact Beaufort County Veterans Affairs at (843) 255-6880.
What’s next: organizers said this is the first time Beaufort County Veterans Affairs has partnered with Friends of Caroline Hospice to reach out to the health-care community; the symposium is intended as an informational resource rather than a benefits-claims forum.
