Kershaw County councilman announces he will not seek reelection after 20 years

Jones, who said he has served roughly 20 years on the council and is beginning his fifth full term, framed the announcement as a personal decision and thanked colleagues and constituents for their trust. He said he has "enjoyed serving the citizens of Kershaw County" and asked the public to consider new candidates for the seat when filing opens in March.
Council members responded with remarks thanking him for his service and wishing him well. No formal action was required or taken in response to the announcement; Jones will continue to serve through the remainder of his term.
