Summary
District staff told the board the Patricia Boulevard renovation will be advertised (current advertised estimate $1,056,000) with a pre-bid walk Nov. 20 and bid opening Dec. 5; board will consider bid approval Dec. 8. Mark Cook renovation has a later bid/opening schedule and an anticipated August completion target for classroom work.
Superintendent and facilities staff updated the Goshen Board on Nov. 10 on two capital projects and the district’s procurement timetable.
Administration said the projects represent about a $2,000,000 investment overall and that the bid package for the Patricia Boulevard site will be advertised with an advertised amount near $1,056,000. The board was told the advertised estimate equates to roughly $131 per square foot in one estimate presented during design review.
Key dates provided by district staff:
- Pre‑bid, on‑site walk: Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. (potential bidders may walk the site). - Public bid opening for Patricia: Dec. 5 at the board office. - BOE action on construction bid (Patricia): Dec. 8 (anticipated approval on the consent/financials agenda). - Mark Cook: construction documents and public bid opening are expected in January with BOE approval tentatively scheduled for Jan. 12 and a target completion of summer 2026/early August for classroom work.
Staff described technical constraints and decisions discussed during design (electrical capacity, HVAC reuse versus upgrade, plumbing and interior layout) and said the Patricia site will use existing residential electrical service (120 single phase) and supplemental cooling where needed rather than full three‑phase upgrades. Staff cautioned the county permitting process may affect schedule and noted the district will advertise bids in a local newspaper and on the district website per procurement rules.
Trustees asked about packaging the two sites into a single contract; staff recommended separate bids because each site requires separate permits and that separate bids may be more attractive to local builders. The administration said they will post construction documents in the district’s plan rooms and publicly advertise the bid window.
Board members expressed support for the projects and thanked the facilities team for progressing the designs. The administration noted that approval to advertise the bid package for Patricia is on the current financials/resolutions agenda for board action.
