Taros said the goal is not to add delay but to provide “time, and we really need to be more scheduled and more diligent with looking at the upcoming calendar,” and noted the committee consulted rules used by other nearby cities when drafting the changes. Committee members raised few substantive objections, saying the administrative adjustments made sense and could reduce last-minute pressure on members and staff.
A motion to recommend the new rules to the full council was made and seconded; the committee voted in favor and the motion carried. The recommendation will be placed on the full council’s agenda for final consideration.
