Whiteland council reorganizes leadership, approves routine finance and procurement items

The Whiteland Town Council began its Jan. 13 meeting by reelecting the existing committee leadership and clearing routine administrative business.
During the opening reorganization, the council reappointed Richard Hill and Tim Brown to their existing committee roles; a motion to reelect the slate passed on a roll call with a unanimous vote. The council then approved minutes from prior meetings, including the Jan. 14, 2025 minutes, and accepted a written investment report from the clerk-treasurer as reviewed by the body.
Finance staff flagged two stale checks dated Sept. 29, 2023 and Nov. 30, 2023. Council approved a motion to void those checks and return the funds to the originating fund. Council also accepted two conflict-of-interest disclosures: one signed by Tyler Croix identifying TXC Solutions LLC as his company and a second from Brian Smith, a police sergeant who identified himself as an employee/installer for the same vendor. The council accepted those disclosures on roll call.
The council acted by voice and roll call on these items and closed the routine portion of its agenda before moving into several substantive policy, infrastructure and procurement topics.
