At its Jan. 13 meeting the Norwalk City School District board accepted personnel items including the resignation of kitchen manager Patricia Smith, effective Jan. 23, 2026, and approved several volunteers and substitute hires for the year.
The board approved volunteer coaches for Norwalk Middle School (Janelle Jubeck, Art Metcalfe and Mister Reeser) and voted to approve Ken Moore for home instruction tied to a specific student need. The superintendent noted several transportation assistants were resigning and that substitutes were pending HR verification.
The board also reviewed several policy updates (including alcohol/drug testing, student health and transportation policies) and authorized the superintendent to notify seven administrators (Jennifer Gerber, Brad Grama, Heather Loomis, Keith Mora, Josh Schlatter, Gorchmidt and Scott Speddle) of their expiring contracts. A memorandum of agreement with Kent State University for College Credit Plus (CCP) was added to the agenda and approved.
The board publicly thanked Mary Bauer and Nancy Maxheimer for a $4,500 donation that paid for a digital piano at the middle school.
Votes: personnel items 5.1–5.4 and superintendent items 6.1–6.3 were approved by roll call on Jan. 13.
