The Revere City Traffic Commission on Jan. 15 approved a three-month pilot to install removable speed cushions on Rice Avenue and near 136 Linton Road.
Julie DeMarr of the Department of Planning and Community Development told the commission the idea was presented at the November meeting and that the cushions (described as removable “pump/pillow” devices) will be trial installations to evaluate placement before making them permanent. The pilot will test two locations on Rice Avenue (including a bend near Bateman/Lancaster intersection where speeds were recorded as high) and one location on Linton Road.
Councilor Angela Guarino and commissioners discussed exact placement; staff said the devices would be installed in spring and will be evaluated after about three months. The commission moved, seconded and approved the installation as presented.
The pilot is intended to reduce speeding at identified locations; staff will return with data and a recommendation on permanent placement after the trial.
