Georgetown ISD updates parents and trustees on bond projects and upcoming campus work

Trustees at the Georgetown Independent School District heard an update Jan. 12 on the status of projects funded by the 2024 bond. West (Wes) Vanacek, who led the presentation, said Elementary School 12 and Middle School 5 are on track for delivery in May; High School 4 on the Debutwood site remains under construction with expected delivery in 2028.
Vanacek reviewed recently completed and staged work across campuses, including corridor painting and flooring replacements, fire alarm replacements at Cooper and Ford, and portable upgrades. He said summer phases will move into classroom upgrades—lighting, flooring and painting—so that visible hallway work is followed by classroom renovations.
Upcoming projects include fine‑arts and white‑room renovations at the middle school, an Eastview High School performing-arts center and field-house additions, and HVAC replacements at Georgetown High School South scheduled through spring and summer. Vanacek provided renderings of the new facilities and described sequencing intended to minimize disruption.
No formal decisions were required at the workshop; trustees asked clarifying questions about timelines and phasing. The district reiterated that High School 4 remains the longer-term project, with active construction continuing through 2028.
