The Bayonne Planning Board approved a site‑plan application to convert a vacant Sonic restaurant at 100 Bayonne Crossing Way into a double‑lane 7 Brew drive‑through coffee shop. The application, filed by G7B, LLC, sought preliminary and final site plan approval for exterior renovations, a two‑lane drive‑through with a pass‑through lane, and operational characteristics focused exclusively on grab‑and‑go service (no dining seating).
Attorney Jason Tuvel introduced four witnesses: owner‑operator Zachary Roskam, civil engineer Lindsay Reist, traffic engineer John Korak and planner Kristen Shepherd. Testimony established the hours of operation (05:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sunday–Thursday; 05:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Friday–Saturday), that food preparation is limited to prepackaged items (a packaged muffin top) and that the use will be drive‑through only with no in‑building seating. The plan proposes 11 employee parking spaces (including one ADA stall) and queueing for 29 vehicles; engineers explained that operational characteristics and limited menu reduced transaction times and made the reduced parking supply functionally appropriate.
The board accepted the applicants’ commitment to address board‑engineer comments (lighting and ADA details), to provide vehicle‑turning exhibits and to work with the planner on final landscaping and signage. After discussion of circulation, signage and plantings, the board voted to approve the application.
What happens next: The applicant will address remaining technical comments in resolution compliance (lighting plan, ADA details and minor engineering items) before receiving final permits and proceeding to construction and occupancy.
