Commissioners OK $47,000 procurement step to explore county employee clinic

Dawson County commissioners on Jan. 15 approved a $47,000 contract with Alliant Insurance Services to conduct phase 2 procurement services for a proposed advanced primary care employee clinic.
Joy (staff) told commissioners the county completed a favorable feasibility study in 2025 and Alliant had proposed a second phase to define the scope of services and go to market for a vendor. Joy said the $47,000 would come from the general fund and that this is not a budgeted item; the work is expected to take about four months with recommendations to return to the board in the summer and budget considerations for FY2027.
Commissioner Stowers moved approval and Commissioner Bruce seconded; the board approved the proposal. Staff said the program is intended to reduce long-term insurance cost pressure and to provide health services to employees and potentially their families, but details of services and the vendor model will be developed during phase 2.
