Dawson County commissioners voted Jan. 15 to rezone a 4.871-acre parcel at 1293 New Bethel Church Road from RA (residential agriculture) to RRE (residential rural estate), enabling the property owners to obtain a county building permit and build a single-family residence.
Planning Director Richard told the board the rezoning is intended to bring a subdivided remainder parcel into code compliance after surveying clarified lot lines; he said the planning commission recommended approval with no conditions. At the hearing, applicant Cameron Chester said the property already has a septic system sized for a four-bedroom house and that he and his wife, Sydney Chester, have been Dawson County residents for 30 years.
Commissioner Stowers moved approval; Commissioner Bruce seconded and the board approved ZA2509. No members of the public spoke in favor or opposition during the hearing.
The approval addresses a technical compliance issue identified in a recent survey and clears the way for the family to apply for a county building permit.
