Fire Chief Gibson told councilors the plan would free much‑needed space at Station 1 but that existing damage in the Harold Court units means the department will need paid contractors for some work even though many repairs could be done with department staff and volunteers. He estimated one unit at about 1,300 square feet and suggested a total of roughly 2,200 square feet for the relocation.
Kristen Samia, Finance Director, said staff anticipates funding the project through the city’s public safety building expansion project, using 1% sales tax proceeds and public safety building impact fees and prioritizing impact fees to the extent possible.
No formal vote was taken; staff will refine scope and budget estimates and return with a recommendation for council consideration.
