Public Works: three F Road signs installed, 20 more ordered; horse crossing flashers need county approval

Public Works Superintendent Craig Lauer told the Roadway, Trails and Greenway Committee on Jan. 15 that the town has installed three trail signs along F Road and has ordered 20 more to continue marking the horse trail corridor.
"We have installed, 3 signs along the F Road for the trail use. I've ordered 20 more so far," Craig reported.
Craig said the town also ordered standard yellow horse crossing signs for intersections (Cary Lane, 12th and other crossroads). He added the initial signs will be non‑flashing; pursuing flashing horse crossing beacons (horse flashers) at Okeechobee Boulevard or other high‑traffic crossings would require county engineering review and approval.
Committee members responded with safety concerns, saying a marked crosswalk and flashing lights would be necessary at some crossings. Craig acknowledged county engineers will need to evaluate and approve full crossing treatments; the town will pursue engineering review as part of that process.
On North Road, Craig said horse trail signage has been installed along culvert crossings and that additional crossing signs are on order and being installed by the town’s sign installer.
Next steps: Craig will continue sign installations and coordinate with county engineers on crossing treatments that require engineering approval.
