The Harpers Ferry Town Council voted unanimously on Jan. 12 to ask the mayor to contact the Swan/hotel project representative to request a Columbia Street gate beautification project that would conceal a chain-link fence and gate.
A council member presented draft motion language directing the mayor to reach out to the project representative and to request completion by April 1, 2026. Speakers discussed options—planters, facing the fence, or other low-intensity measures—and noted the request would be a reasonable and immediate improvement for residents and visitors.
The mayor accepted the action and the motion carried 7-0. Staff said they would follow up with Swan representatives about possible treatments and timelines.
