Summary
The board recognized the district's January students of the month and presented certificates to students selected to attend American Legion Girls State and Boys and Girls State; community partners funded several delegate slots.
The Fairfield‑Suisun Unified School District governing board used its Jan. 15 meeting to recognize outstanding students and community partnerships.
Trustees and district staff presented Students of the Month from multiple campuses, including Grange Middle School, KI Jones Elementary, Sheldon Academy and Suisun Elementary. Students spoke briefly about their achievement and thanked teachers and family. The board thanked school staff in attendance and invited families to a photo following the recognitions.
The board also issued proclamations of appreciation for American Legion Girls State and Boys and Girls State programs. Representatives from the American Legion Auxiliary and Post 182 described the nomination and selection process and said local partners — including Soroptimist International of Central Solano County — funded several delegates. The Legion representatives said the statewide program is a weeklong, participatory simulation of government held at California State University, Sacramento, and that delegates are typically selected for scholarship, leadership and school involvement.
District and community leaders posed for photos with nominees and recognized principals from the participating high schools. The board said it values community partnerships that expand student leadership opportunities.
No formal action was required for the recognitions; the items were presented as part of the meeting’s recognitions agenda.
