Summary
Staff reported construction on 1849 Park Phase 2 is nearly complete with play expected in March; Kelly Lane Park (including three outdoor pickleball courts) is slated for early‑summer completion, and design work for Lake Pflugerville Phase 2 will begin in February or March.
Commissioners received a status update on several bond‑funded park projects: 1849 Park Phase 2, Kelly Lane Park, and Lake Pflugerville Phase 2.
Jeff O’Shea said construction on 1849 Park Phase 2 is nearly finished, with turf and landscaping in place and play expected to be available in March after grass establishes. The project includes three multiuse fields, batting cages, an event lawn and seating integrated to the site’s slope.
On Kelly Lane Park, staff said this is the last undeveloped park from the 2020 bond program and is expected to be complete in early summer; the park will include three outdoor pickleball courts, restrooms, shade structures and a pollinator garden.
Design for Lake Pflugerville Phase 2 will begin in February or March, staff said; planned features include a beach area, wetlands boardwalk, a loop trailhead and about 40 additional parking spaces. Staff described the lake project as drawing on a 2019 preliminary design and the 2014 master plan, with designers asked to modernize and refine those concepts.
What’s next: Staff will continue construction oversight for 1849 and Kelly Lane, begin the Lake Pflugerville design procurement, and present project timelines and details as part of the CIP discussions scheduled for February and March.
