Parish tables one permit, rescinds earlier approval and approves another after review
Summary
After public concern and additional discussion, the jury tabled a permit by Garrett Coats, rescinded an earlier blanket approval of two permits, tabled BP America’s permit for more information, and approved Purdue Oil & Gas’s permit.
The Cameron Parish Police Jury revisited permit approvals and split prior action on Item 8 during its Jan. 12 meeting.
Discussion reopened on a Garrett Coats permit; one member moved to deny the permit “due to the outcry of the public and the safety of the community,” but that motion lacked a second and died. The jury then voted to table the Garrett Coats permit until next month pending further information.
Earlier in the meeting the jury had voted to approve both Item 8(b) (BP America Production Company) and Item 8(c) (Purdue Oil & Gas). Later, a member moved to reconsider that action; the jury rescinded the prior approval of both items and took them up separately. After further debate the jury voted to table Item 8(b) (BP America) pending clarification and approve Item 8(c) (Purdue Oil & Gas LLC off Little Cheniere Road).
