Cameron Parish jury elects new president, approves several board appointments

The Cameron Parish Police Jury elected new leadership and approved a slate of appointments during its Jan. 12 voting session.
An unidentified meeting participant nominated Mike Few for president; the nomination was seconded and approved by voice vote, making Few the jury’s new president. The jury also elected Sonny (referred to in the record as Sonny McGee) as vice president after a motion and second carried by voice vote.
The jury moved on to routine appointments. It reappointed Ronald Nunez to the library board of control, appointed Christie DeVero to a seat on the Consolidated Fire Protection of South Cameron board, and accepted the resignation of Ward 3 constable Ronald G. Nunez Sr. before voting to appoint Tim Dupont to fill that vacancy. All motions on appointments were moved, seconded and carried by voice votes.
The changes take place as the parish begins work on its 2026 agenda; the meeting record shows no roll-call tallies, only voice votes recorded as “Aye.”
