Summary
Food-service staff reported December commodity usage and inventory figures, six vacancies in the food-service workforce and introduced Cheryl Schmidt as the district's new food-service director.
Mister Dan, who presented the district food-service update, said food services catered 12 district events in December and that commodity purchases and deliveries supporting student meals in December totaled $17,941; month-end inventory was reported as $17,496.
He said food-service currently has six vacant positions and that the department is interviewing to fill those roles. Mister Dan highlighted recent equipment upgrades that reduced set-up and travel burdens for events and thanked staff for service at the district’s holiday meal events.
The meeting introduced Cheryl Schmidt as the district’s new food-service director. Schmidt, who described herself as having a degree in hospitality management and experience across hotels, senior-living food service and school food-service operations, said she is excited to return to school food service and to partner with district staff.
Board members and staff thanked Mister Dan and welcomed Schmidt. The committee did not take any formal votes on personnel at the presentation; personnel changes will proceed under district hiring procedures.
