Council refers police headquarters surplus and police-station discussion to Finance Committee

Councilor Farwell said the committee motioned to refer the police-station-related material to Finance so all councilors could discuss and provide input. During reading of Item 24, Clerk/Staff presented an order declaring 7 Commercial Street — identified in the record as Brockton Police Headquarters — surplus and authorizing the mayor to solicit proposals and execute documents to dispose of the property to a taxpaying entity after an RFP process.
Farwell moved to refer Item 24 to FINCOM and the motion was seconded and approved by the council. The referral places the surplus declaration and any disposition details in front of the Finance Committee for fiscal and procedural review before further council action.
