The Santa Barbara Historic Landmarks Commission elected a new leadership team at its Jan. 14 meeting and confirmed its subcommittee assignments for the year.
Anthony Grumbach was nominated and, after accepting, was elected chair by a viva voce vote. Robert Uley was nominated and elected vice chair. The commission then confirmed its slate of subcommittee representatives and alternates, keeping several incumbents in place. Staff noted alternates for architecture (Commissioner Lenvik) and landscape (Commissioner Butler) and recorded adjustments for the sign committee and State Street interim working group.
Commissioners unanimously approved minutes from the Dec. 17, 2025 meeting and ratified the consent calendar for January, following routine roll‑call votes. The commission also reviewed ad hoc subcommittees and directed staff to confirm whether certain groups remain active before formally striking them from rosters.
The meeting then moved into public comment and the scheduled agenda items.
