The Franklin City Park Board on Jan. 15 approved a $29,500 professional services contract with HWC Engineering to evaluate the city’s aquatic center and deliver recommended repairs, cost estimates and optional expansion renderings.
Speaker 2 described the scope as a full systems evaluation — including mechanical systems, pool shell, gutter systems, the bathhouse, the water slide and play structures — and said the work would include partnering with Landmark Aquatics and take about eight weeks. "This is for, 29,500," Speaker 2 said when reviewing the proposal.
Speaker 1 noted that paragraph 11 in the indemnification clause had been revised and confirmed that counsel and necessary reviewers had signed off on the language. Speaker 1 moved to approve the professional services contract for the aquatic center with HWC Engineering and also moved that Chip be authorized to sign the contract on the board’s behalf; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The contract will produce a budget estimate and, if the board elects, renderings of a possible expansion to show the public what an expanded facility might look like. No implementation decision or construction authorization was made at the meeting; the board approved only the design/evaluation contract and the signature authorization for Chip.
