The Stamford Planning Board on May 20 approved CP 225-12, a proposal to build a three-story self-storage facility at 35 Commerce Road on a site already used for storage.
Attorney Jay Klein (Carmody Law) and associate Karina Arredondo presented a colorized site plan showing the proposed building footprint, parking and landscaping. Klein said the project provides the 43 parking spaces required for the proposed square footage and adds five electric-vehicle charging stations and bike parking.
Staff noted the project will add ADA-accessible sidewalks, crosswalks and street trees along frontages. Klein said the proposed new building will be 40 feet tall — the same height as an existing building on the site — and is located in an ML zone where industrial and storage uses are consistent with the master plan.
Board members asked about height and context; Klein said the new structure aligns with the site’s existing building heights. Bill Levin moved to approve the item, Ravi Subramanian seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The applicant may proceed with permitting and site work consistent with the approved plans.
