Board hears plan for centralized below-market-rate housing application system

"The purpose of this project is really to hire a consultant to develop with us a management system that makes it easier for applicants...to submit their documentation, to know where they are on the waiting list," Speaker 7 said, adding the new system would also give the land-use bureau real-time information about participating buildings and residents.
Board members asked for clarification in the project description about tenant application fees and potential cost savings to residents if the city consolidates applications; Speaker 2 recommended documenting the software as an infrastructure expenditure and asking departments to quantify anticipated savings.
No vote was taken; the board requested the proposal note fee-related clarifications and add potential operational savings to the project justification.
