Golf Manor Village staff confirmed a request for proposals for waste and recycling services was officially issued Jan. 19 and has been sent to Rumpke, Republic Services and Waste Management.
Speaker 2 said Waste Management replied that Golf Manor lies outside that company’s service area and therefore would not bid. Rumpke indicated it will respond and may instead offer a one‑year, four‑month extension to the village’s existing contract; that extension would allow Golf Manor to participate in a municipal procurement pool through the Center for Local Government, where several municipalities negotiate a combined contract to seek better rates. Republic Services told staff it would only consider a contract of at least three years and said it needs roughly six months to procure drivers and equipment if it were to begin serving the village directly.
Speaker 2 said he has been in contact with representatives from Rumpke and Republic Services and requested pooled‑procurement numbers from the Center for Local Government to inform a recommendation to the council. No procurement decision was made at the committee meeting; staff said a recommendation will follow after responses and price comparisons are complete.
