During the call to the public at the Dec. 17 meeting, several residents urged the Board of Supervisors to adopt a formal restroom policy limiting multi‑stall restrooms to biological sexes and directing trans or gender‑nonconforming individuals to single‑occupancy family restrooms.
Troy Allman said the absence of a policy endangered women and urged an immediate rule requiring people to use restrooms matching their biological sex. Vince Tucker raised practical enforcement questions and warned any change could draw national attention. Amari May and Morgan Polsky echoed concerns about privacy and safety and urged the board to maintain separate facilities.
Chair Mallory and County Manager Brennan responded on the record: Brennan confirmed the county currently has no policy that allows men to use women's restrooms, and the chair noted the board has not taken a vote on related ordinances or policies. Following public comment the board moved into executive session; upon return, no action was taken and the meeting was adjourned.
Speakers used strong language and hypothetical safety scenarios; staff and board responses confined themselves to clarifying the county’s current policy status and the absence of any prior board vote on the matter.
