Mayor Pro Tem Bell moved on Jan. 28 to continue the public hearing on the Erie West annexation and associated ordinance and annexation agreement to Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m., and to reschedule the zoning hearing for the Erie West property on Kenosha Road to March 11 at 6:30 p.m. The motion also directed staff to republish and post notice of the hearings and to set the proposed zoning classification as agricultural holding for the March hearing.
Mayor Moore opened the public hearing and the council discussed scheduling and the need for additional review and special counsel because one property owner is the town attorney. The motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
The continuance allows special counsel time to be briefed and gives council members additional time to review materials prior to hearing testimony and deliberation. No formal evidentiary record or vote on annexation or zoning took place at the Jan. 28 meeting.
