Members compared monetary donations to food donations, noting that cash can stretch further for pantries and can be used to buy specific items (for example, infant formula or protein) pantry clients need.
Commissioners also described a community-run 24/7 'friend fridge' near the pantry (managed via a private Facebook group) that needs volunteers for stocking and cleaning. Speakers noted the loss of corporate partners after a local Hannaford store closed and discussed coordinating with Project Bread and nearby towns to bolster supply for Northborough’s pantry.
