DRC schedules site walk for Barefoot Road project as members debate sidewalks and Complete Streets

Members of the Design Review Committee on Jan. 15 agreed to conduct an on‑site review of the 20 Barefoot Road property as part of continued consideration of the applicant’s request to deviate from certain frontage and landscape calculations.
Quentin Park, the applicant, said he supports pedestrian infrastructure generally but cautioned against building a private sidewalk that would terminate without a broader network, calling for coordination with the town’s Complete Streets plan. Town staff and committee members replied that an applicant‑funded frontage sidewalk would advance the town’s stated Complete Streets priorities and that adding frontage sidewalks can be a way to extend the town network when municipal funds are not available.
The committee set a site walk to review existing grade changes, the retaining wall, and potential sidewalk crossings and asked the applicant to return with revised plans including alternate dumpster locations, reconciled parking counts and a traffic memo addressing truck routing to and from the I‑290 interchange. The DRC will use findings from the visit to inform its written comments to the Planning Board.
