The Dallas Planning Commission on the evening’s first public hearing approved a conditional use permit allowing a short-term vacation rental at 529 NW Crater Lake Drive.
In a staff report, planning staff said the single-family property meets—or can meet with reasonable conditions—the city’s conditional-use criteria and the special standards for short-term vacation rentals, including off-street parking, solid-waste arrangements and appointment of a local representative. "All of those approvable criteria, either have been met or can be met through reasonable conditions of approval," the staff report said.
Staff recommended approval subject to conditions that the project be completed as shown, that the applicant comply with building and fire-code requirements, that the applicant register with the city finance office for transient lodging tax collection, that the maximum occupancy be limited to nine people, and that a local representative be designated to manage the rental. With no public testimony and no substantive questions from the commission, a commissioner moved to adopt staff’s recommendation. The motion passed by voice vote, unanimously.
An order reflecting the commission’s decision will be mailed to the applicant and all participants of record within 10 business days. The commission’s decision is final unless appealed to the state Land Use Board of Appeals.
