Council amends economic development commission quorum and advances historic-preservation code updates
Summary
Council passed Ordinance 19-16 to amend the Economic Development Commission quorum 9–0 and gave first reading to Ordinance 19-17 aligning Historic Preservation Commission duties with the municipal code.
On Oct. 20 the City Council completed second reading and adopted Ordinance 19-16, which amends Dallas Municipal Code section 2.905 to change the quorum for the Economic Development Commission after membership increased from seven to eight; the city recorder called roll and the ordinance passed 9–0.
Earlier in the meeting staff presented Ordinance 19-17, which adds sections 2.61–2.63 to the Dallas Municipal Code to establish the Historic Preservation Commission's responsibilities and align that commission's formation and duties with other advisory boards and commissions in the municipal code. Councilors reviewed residency and membership requirements in the draft and the ordinance passed first reading to advance to the next step in the process.
The consent agenda (Oct. 6 minutes and the September financial report) was approved by motion from Councillor Schoen with a second from Councillor Schilling and passed unanimously earlier in the meeting.
