The working group recommended a south-facing alignment to reduce icy conditions in winter and asked whether the county could pursue in-house construction to limit costs.
Speakers noted constraints including private property (Hawks Landing), drainage ditches, and the need for an engineered solution in a narrow section. Board members raised potential conflicts with middle-school cross-country practice and the need for horse trailer turnarounds if shuttling is used. Staff said upcoming public charrettes and Bio Canyon trailhead meetings in January–February will offer further opportunities to refine the concept and pursue school easements where needed.
