Greater Burrows board approves translation of respiratory health materials

The Greater Burrows Partnership for Health advisory board voted Nov. 24 to approve spending to translate respiratory-health resources into four languages.

Chair Isabella Caruso opened the item and the presenter described draft materials — tips on staying healthy during respiratory season and vaccine overviews — and noted the quoted cost to translate four languages. After members discussed whether the materials should be printed or used primarily online, a board member moved to approve the funds for translation and the motion was seconded and approved by voice/roll-call: Westborough Aye, Southborough Yes, Northborough Aye.

Members preferred online circulation over printed handouts given the short remaining season, and asked staff to remove dated information so translated materials remain reusable. One member asked whether dates should be removed so the documents can be reused; staff said they would edit items such as specific vaccine-year data and confirmed they would expedite the translations when possible.

The board directed staff to proceed with the translations, to prioritize languages and formats based on community need, and to circulate the translated drafts to members when available. The presenter said the vendor typically delivers translations quickly; staff will follow up and report progress at upcoming meetings.

The vote completed the item with no further conditions; staff will manage procurement and production and notify the board when translated resources are ready.
